Hi all, I wonder is there a chance that HB ice cream blocks like we buy in the UK with the wafers can be found anywhere in Christchurch. One of the goodies i really miss.

I have only ever seen pink wafers, they are with the ice-cream cones and sauces. I have seen great big long blocks of Kiwi brand ice-cream but not sure what you mean by 'HB'?

Have never seen HB here, have never seen it in blocks either.
There are tons of kiwi brands of icecream here, some are very nice but can also be very expensive.
Stick with Tip Top and you can go wrong

This is an irish brand of icecream. Any brands that come in blocks and can be cut and held with two wafers. would be so great.

There is one that comes as a block. Might be a tip top. Only come in vanilla that I've seen

I meant to update that I had looked in our Pak n Save and they do a pack of Tip Top Brickettes with a packet of pink wafers already in the box.

Still the only wafers I have seen are the pink 'Budget' ones in Pak n Save and New World. It's worth looking out at Christmas time for some fancier things that they don't ordinarily have; especially things for ice-cream like fantail type wafers and massive tins of Corinthians (wafer sticks that you get in ice-cream sundaes).

That's the way to eat icecream. Stick it in between some wafers and lick around the edges until the wafers collapse into each other.

Of course, I remember a time when I was a nipper where the only way to get icecream was in blocks. Then you'd stick it in the freezing compartment of your fridge (which was roughly the same size), and then mum would get angry because there was enough room for the frozen peas.
