Default Biking scene

Hi,

Anyone in the biking scene in the North Island?

Hubby and I are into motorbikes in a big way and wondered how active the scene is out there?

All the best,

Tracey

Hi there not sure but from what I have been able to find there is not too much. Several posts on other threads though about riding. I am fairly new to bikes but can't wait to get to the outskirts of AKL to play! I will watch this with interest and let you know if I find anything that looks good.

Regards
David

Hi Tracey,

just seen this thread. Our bike has just gone with the shippers to AKL. I'd also like to hear from anyone with answers to your question.

There in six weeks!! (All being well)

Hi Tracey. There are a lot of cruiser style bikes out here, which makes us fit in real well as we have a Harley, but not so many sports bikes. Suggest you take a look at www.kiwibiker.co.nz . Magazine coverage is pretty bad with only one kiwi mag that I can find (apart from a couple of Trade-It style mags). I know I'm sad but I actually miss MCN. Expect to see lot's of pot-holes and if you ride around Auckland EVERYONE in a car seems to be trying to kill you. Still great though once you get out of town. South island is better for bikes as less traffic and some nice mountain roads. What bike have you got?

Cheers, John

Hi Glenn. Unless you already have something arranged I can recommend Aironaut Customs Brokers (Antony Leverage 09 309 8814). Antony handled my bike importation and gave excellent service. No connections to this company etc....... just a very satisfied customer.

Hi,

My hubby and I are both bikers (996 & 748) and we've been trying to find out about the biking scene in NZ ourselves.

It does seem that cruisers are far more common than sports bikes, which I can sort of understand.

We're going to sell our Ducatis before we migrate as the market for them in NZ is far smaller.

It's going to be fun trying to get my knee down on a Suzuki Virago!

When you do put your knee down it sounds as though you have a chance of ripping it off. I have been trying to find dealers on the net but had little luck. if you know of any let me know.

Cheers

Hi all,

Thanks for all your help. Looks like hubby may have to leave his beloved racer here and convert to a harley there. he's not impressed, but it will make a change for me to have a soft seat!
Cheers,
Tracey
