Whenever I'm out in the car with the wife she is constantly telling me to slow down
Yet in 2014 she managed 7 speeding tickets to my none !!

Think the death toll is higher this year anyway. Given that car crash protection, traction, electronic systems to help a driver and stopping distances improve every year that's actually pretty damning. Not to mention the improvements in road design of course. To some extent policing does reduce road deaths but when you are talking about such a slight increase in safety as a few km/h it's likely the impact is very small.
Might be better off targeting people like me who drive round with a can of red bull in one hand and ice cream in the other while chatting on my phone.

Hmm and a fat lot of good that has done other than raise a few extra dollars for the public coffers - there's been more fatalities than ever over this holiday period.

It's a Christmas thing, not sure when it ends thought. Last year I appealed on the grounds that it was not publicised enough. How far do you think that got

There's nearly always a camera van just North of Wellington on SH1 in one direction. And they move around frequently.
And there's NZ's most lucrative camera on Ngauranga Gorge in the 80kph downhill bit.
I assume this was an officer?
There's often a bike cop around the Gorge area too.
Apparently he likes to ticket bikers for filtering through the almost standing morning traffic.

Not sure of the whole story but it now appears that son was in fact fined for every km/hr of 101 and above, I may never get the full picture. Sorry for any confusion with the so called 'facts' and the actual 'virtual' facts!

Tourists' keys yanked - the-press | Stuff.co.nz
If only they could do this to Kiwi drivers as well. Confiscate their keys, licence and make them walk
Canterbury would become a much safer place to live with 3/4 of the cars off the roads. I'd be able to cross at a traffic light on a green man.

I have to wonder what manner of tourist driver they specifically get here in NZ. After all there are tourist drivers all around the world.
Makes me spit TBH. It's a form of propaganda and a typical shift of blame from the real issue. That real issue being the disgraceful poor home grown driving standards in this country.
Never mind reporting on tourists. Get gritty NZ and start reporting each day and every day on the NZ drivers that cause harm through inability to drive properly, to the conditions and with awareness for others on or near the road. That's not even mentioning the drink driving .
