Best New Zealand clubs and societies
Making friends and networking can be one of the most difficult aspects of moving to a new country. Joining clubs and societies can be a good way to meet people with common interests. Which are the best you’ve found and joined?
- The Mercedes Benz Car Club does fun events (http://www.mbcnz.com/).
- Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) sometime organise good talks for local members*. You don’t have to be an Engineer to join either (http://www.ipenz.org.nz/ipenz/).
- I have a good friend who is into flying sailplanes (gliders) and she says they have a good club here as well but I’m not sure which one it is.
*Some talks aren’t even Engineering related, I went along to one last week that was about molecular gastronomy by some Frenchist. He almost convinced me to cook using liquid nitrogen .
