I gone through seek and other sites. almost all the jobs required work permit.
Bythe way im a software engg. 4+ exar exp. me and my partner both got 7 in nzqa. My husband, IT area, found the only way to obtain a job is to actually be in the country and meet people, Skype interviews were all well and good but produced no job offers. You may get your EOI selected without a job offer on those numbers but you won't be fast tracked as you don't have a job offer. |

Yes you have an interview, they offer you a job, you go down to the local Immigration office and get a Work Visa to cover the time it takes to go through the process of getting a Residency visa.

Re: BEFORE I APPLY FOR EOI
yes as I said all the applications and Skype interviews probably won't get you a job, employers over here like to met the candidates in person.
If you really want to make a life here then you need to be here and looking. Just read on another site that you can come on a visitors visa and look for job's and accept one but you MUST not actually start the job until you have the valid visa in place, but you also have to be care as the Immigration and Custom office here have to differing views on that. So don't come into the country with wads of CV's or tools of trade on a visitors visa as they may just turn you round and send you back on another plane. But have the where with all to be able to print CV's off once you are here. |

Vitalstatistix did enquire where you were in the visa/immigration process but received no response. So,why not let us all know what your plans are & where you are in the immigration process. That way, instead of writing ' I am lost" which doesn't mean a lot to anyone to be honest, you would be writing something which we can all share and help with if we can :) Cheers. |

This is my situation, although dont know how it will help the other person. I looked on seek etc also various other sites, all jobs do state that you need to be resident etc. I then contacted companies and sent my resume to them, recieved positive replies from several and job offers from more than one, I would therefore say the best bet, in my experienceso far, would be to try and get a job or make enquiries about a work place-ment before submitting an eoi, it may well give you more chance with your eoi, but not just through seek etc, approach companies direct. |
Re: BEFORE I APPLY FOR EOI
A work placement would be no good but a permanent full time job offer, with contract to prove that, would.
Your reply does help though. It shows that some employers understand it is a job offer first and then a visa application. It also shows that it is still possible to gain a firm job offer from outside of New Zealand. |
