BBC Radio Internet Broadcast Changes

BBC Radio Internet Broadcast Changes
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the way BBC radio audio streams to the web has gone through a drastic change ... and not in a good way.
This manifests itself as a reduction in the quality of the audio and the commitment to a new system which will be virtually unique to the BBC leading to nearly all internet radio devices becoming obsolete overnight.
As yet no manufacturers - bar one which is associated with the providers of the BBC's streaming service - produce a device which can reproduce the proposed new streams. Other manufacturers have already said it's unlikely they'll produce a device capable of receiving the new service. After all there are 20,000+ internet radio stations in the world using a common open source means of delivery.
The On Demand/Listen Again facility has also summarily been withdrawn.
If you want to know more please check out this BBC Blog, which is at the end of a series which elicited thousands of responses:

Re: BBC Radio Internet Broadcast Changes
for all BBC radio I just go to the BBC radio website and either listen live or choose from the episode list.
I listen to radio 1, 2, 5 live and 6 without issue
Have just tuned in to ken bruce to check its ok and it is, so not sure what your issue is.
The full episode list is accessible for all radio 1,2,3,4,5,6 and I can play all stations live
I dont need to mask my ip address and I listen from New Zealand

Re: BBC Radio Internet Broadcast Changes
The problem is if you use a device other than a computer or an iPhone, you're screwed.
But I'm glad to hear you don't have an issue
