Bay of Plenty - Tauranga
 

Taking the big leap next April 2009 and looking to settle eventually in the Bay of Plenty.

Does anyone have any info in relation to this area, any no no's, houses, schools, etc. There are alot of areas within this but to know the nice and reasonable ones gives us a head start. Coming with two boys aged 6 and 4.

We are heading there to live next year its a fantasic place, Papamoa and the Mount are on the outskirts of Tauranga a perfect place to settle good houses and great schools. Very friendly people we went to visit for a few days while we headed around New Zealand on holiday..Papamoa have a web site www.papamoa.co.nz. Hope to see you there.regards DI:thumbsup:

Hi,

Papamoa is a great place to live and start your life in New Zealand. It is very popular with Brits moving over here because it has a great beach, a new shopping area complete with cafe`s ,takeaways and bars. Its 10 minutes from the Mount and 15 from the centre of Tauranga. There aren`t many "areas" to avoid but there are a few streets.
There are several posters on here from the area who will gladly check out any particular addresses that you need more info on. One thing for sure is that once you get here you will realise that you aren`t the only person who has moved to the other side of world, which can feel reassuring.

Pretty much echo what the others have said. If you have a look under the Wiki and New Zealand City Guides at the top of the page there are some good links for Tauranga.

If you were looking to live in Tauranga itself I would say give Merivale, Gate Pa and Greerton a miss.

We are in Papamoa - have been for 18 months now and love it. The weather is superb, the beaches beautiful, plenty to do all year round and the kids love it.:thumbup:
