baggage allowance
when we end up coming to nz to live what allowance are we allowed on a SMC visa is it 20 or 40 kilos hope its the latter one cheers

It is all dependant upon the airline, and the route.
When we flew out Aug 2008, we flew with Air NZ, via LA and each of us had:
2 x 23kg checked in luggage + 1 piece hand luggage.
I do beleive if you are emigrating, you can claim a little extra but have heard stories of people turning up at the airport to be told at check-in that they can't take the "extra".

I asked this question the other day and checked with Air NZ, if you go via LA you are allowed 23kg x 2 suitcases each and if you go via Hong Kong (the way we have booked) you are only allowed 20kg, even if you are emigrating.
