Default Australia 21 v NewZealand 50

Aussie sport takes yet another dive , are the Aussie camp following wannabes getting behind their lads ?
Mr Mover only 86.000 turned up to watch and was on live in every state not bad for a minor sport ?

The final score of 50-21 was a record drubbing for the Wallabies. Never in 100 years of Tests against New Zealand had Australia conceded a half-century of points.

The frightening truth is that Australia lacked the pace and explosiveness of the All Blacks. It was also embarrassingly deficient in technical areas. The backline defensive alignments were crude, contributing to a missed tackle count of 23, and the tactical kicking was abysmal.

There were also crucial turnovers. Five of the seven All Blacks tries followed Australian errors.

Jones insisted there was time for the Wallabies to put their World Cup campaign back on track. But after successive losses to England, South Africa and New Zealand, the prospects look bleak.

Yes, It was a drubbing. I think NZ have to be favourites for the WC, yes even above England. The Wallabies are nowhere, their arrogance is not producing the required results. Now for the Boks to rub it in in Brisbane on Saturday.

You think that's bad, look at the "kiwi" netball squad - Fijians, South Africans and Samoans to name a few!!!! They will have aussie players next!!!!

My husband is a Kiwi & I can assure you this is ignorance Amazulu. These Pacific Island players you talk about were almost all born & raised in NZ - the exception being Rockocoko. They are as much Kiwi as Edmund Hillary is.

Hello Richard

My sister lives in Adelaide which has been a big incentive. NZ may well be on the cards later on.

Like Mike Catt for example... you can keep him.
We nearly got to keep Martin Johnson, who played for the NZ colts. Now that would have been a result.

England has the big competitive advantage at the moment because of the strength of the UK economy and pound. Whereas 10-15 years ago the only threat to an All Black's services were whether he would cross codes, now the lure of the pound is the threat. Top players such as Kronfield are retiring from international rugby at their peak, and heading to England. What is more damaging perhaps is that the 2nd and 3rd fifteen guys are also cashing in early, when traditionally one or two of them would have matured into absolutely top footballers in their late 20s and 30s.

The Aussie press has tried to wind up the English team by suggesting they are over the hill. In reality, I bet most Oz and NZ coaches would prefer to have a few more hardened oldies in their squads, rather than them being stuck away overseas (the exception is probably NZ's Mitchell who seems to defy all logic in some selections and is singularly disdainful of his most experienced star players, yet is obviously getting away with it handsomely at the moment).

Fortunately the strength in depth is keeping NZ right up there, but if we do not win the world cup, then the absence of Kronfeld, Wilson, Cullen, Mehrtens, Randell, et al will have been a factor.

well said.

For what its worth old Catty was not a bad 2nd 5/8 and his cut out passes were in part responsible for the respectable English scorelines of the 2000/1 6 Nations...
