Advice we were given on our recce was; the order in which to do this was, find job first, get concrete job offer, that gives location.

Next, if needed, find the best school you can to suit your child/s/rens needs. Majority of schools are zoned so you need to know which school and the 'catchment' area before you can,

thirdly, find a house/rental, in the required zone.

That order is recommended as without the job you cannot live. And the job market here is not what we were used to in UK/Europe. There are not the same opportunities/amount of companies to move between/prospects, etc, etc. So basically, you move where the work is then find what suits your needs eduction, housing, social, etc after.

Of course, lots don't. They go to the beach, buy a house there, as that's what there dream was and sort work and schools etc after, and maybe don't mind commuting to work or kids getting school bus.

Would suggest you trust your gut reaction. Only you know what 'feels' right or like home.
