Auckland occupy thingy

What kind of a country do we live in that protecting grass has become more important than:
1. The rights of individuals to protest about decisions being made regarding banks and pretend banks that impact them in a material way.
2. The right of young people to protest about a debt burden being shifted between generations. From a generation that enjoyed one of the most prolonged and prosperous periods since Victorian times to a generation with a reduced workforce who will have to compete against the aggressive, low wage emerging economies.
3. People’s right to protest against the continued profligacy in financial institutions purporting to serve the public good.

Now I think they’re a bunch of hippies and that they are over simplifying arguments that are more systematic problems. However neither that or protection of Auckland grass assets warrant the use of public servants to remove protesters in my opinion. Where do these arguments stop? No wearing out footpaths with protest, a specially allocated field in Eketahuna to protest?

Also the media reporting has been diabolical.

So was it a sensible move by the court or a watershed on protest?

Its not the kiwi way to protest about anything, they just suck up what ever shit is shovelled upon them....sad b******s

Agree about the media, they are now only referred to as "those lazy idiots" by most of the talk radio f**kwit presenters.

This place ain't as perfect as they would have us believe and they simply shit themselves when someone has the balls to stand
up and say something that might effect the tourist dollar....wankers :sneaky:

I personally don't believe that camping out outside a pub will influence the banking world to change there ways.
The campsite needed moving. Voila.
As a protest, it was pretty meaningless, so well done to the PTB.
My two pennuth.

Hasan Ali Akleh...meaningless or doing the only thing he felt he could in the face of injustice and oppression.

Gandhi...meaningless

Between 13 and 16 January, upset at delays in the building of housing units and over political corruption, protesters in Bayda, Derna, Benghazi, Bani Walid and other cities broke into, and occupied, housing that the government had been building. Protesters also clashed with police in Bayda and attacked government offices.By 27 January, the government had responded to the housing unrest with a €20 billion investment fund to provide housing and development.

This led to the downfall of a dictator....meaningless occupation ??

I get tired of people who are frightened that putting right the wrongs of others might disrupt their sad comfortable little lives

Merry Christmas, Peace on earth and GOODWILL to all men
