Auckland FC
Hi, I will be moving to Auckland after the Christmas holiday period (see December Arr/Depart for further details) with a view to making my move from the UK more permanent. Like many Brits, I have an interest in or like others are keen followers/participants of football in the UK. As a way of meeting new people in NZ, specifically Auckland, and seeing some footie I wondered if there is any interest in people getting together and supporting the local team?

Tommyluck, thanks for the interest. I should be there when you get there so no doubt we can make some arrangements for the 2013/14 season.

Forget watching it - try playing again.
Lots of us who hadn't played for 10 or 20+ years are having a great time in the social winter and summer soccer leagues around here.
"Training" (cough cough) mid-week and a game on Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Plus the odd beer.
Can't beat it.
If you do want to watch it then BarnsleyMat was the man until he pushed off down south??

Me n Ken (aka Ken&Janine) used to go to some of the games at Kiwitea Street, it's a good little setup, the beers cheap, there's plenty of goals and you'll meet loads of Brits.
If you wear anything other than a ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal shirt you'll get talking to some other footy fans from all over the place.
I'm a proper football fan so I always follow the rule you should support your local side so I'll be watching Otago United next season and hopefully joining my local Over 35 side in Andersons Bay when I get round to emailing them.

I'll be playing as much sport as possible out there - why break the habit of a lifetime?
I'm currently playing part of a 11-a-side midweek football league in North London and I play Rugby at weekends, though I'm out of action with injured ribs just now Also, a cricketer in the summer. In fact I'm not sure what people who don't like and/or watch and/or play sport actually do with their spare time. I genuinely don't.
But I'll be watching plenty of live sport out there too, whatever the level of competition.

I'm going to go to the Otago United v Auckland City at the new stadium here in Dunedin on Sunday if anyone fancies it.
