We have lived in the Bucklands Beach area for just over two years now and we love it here. It has two top schools, Bucklands Beach Intermediate and Macleans College, which do make the houses a bit pricey. We are walking distance to two beaches, a golf course and lots of parks. Within a 20 minute drive there are two decent shopping areas and a couple of supermarkets just round the corner. I dont do 'the rush hour into the city' thing but know a few people who catch the ferry from Half Moon Bay into Auckland and they say its the best way to travel. Takes 35 mins. Good luck with your research.

Hi

As an ex Auckland resident I can confirm all the traffic woes. The commute from the north shore (Browns Bay) is shocking. I do recommend an early commute. In the end we decided to move to Wellington, soley because of transit time to work. Living on the north shore is fantastic but only if you can work there.

I hear that people commute from Waiheke Island by ferry? Anyone else know anything about it? Probably quite pricy but you can get breakfast on board (and a beer!)

My OH works in south Auckland and we live on the Shore. Commute times vary day to day but I think when it's fairly ok its around 40 mins to Tamaki/Mt Wellington from the second exit Shore side of the bridge but when it's bad, it's really bad, his commute home a couple of Fridays ago took him 2 hours 15 minutes in the drizzle.:curse:
