Auckland - busses
Hi, we are closer now to returning to NZ and are very interested in the Bucklands Beach area and on the North Shore, Castor Bay up to Mairangi Bay ... currently use the bus where we are and it is great and have been looking into bus routes into Auckland ..... just wondering if anyone has any experience of using the 50,51,52 in the Bucklands area and the 85x,86x,863x in North Shore .... thanks.

Not sure what you are looking for but I use the North Shore buses regularly including the 863x and it is excellent. Takes approx. 20-25mins to the far end of the CBD from Milford and costs $4.40 per trip but can be less using a card, which I must get around to using!

Hi,
We lived on the North Shore when we first got here and hubby used the Northern Express bus into the CBD which was excellent. From Albany it took about 20-25 mins.
We now live in Eastern Beach which is on the other side of the peninsula to Bucklands Beach and hubby uses the 52 bus to get into the CBD. This takes just under an hour, but he is happy to read his book. He buys a monthly ticket and this costs $169.
Hope this helps.

hi,thanks for this, didn't appreciate that the journey was so much longer from Bucklands area as this is a part of town we are quite keen on,but an hour into cbd is quite a journey .... we are also keen on castor bay, mairangi area so curious to ask why you moved away from the north shore ...... do you ever use the ferry into cbd ? many thanks ...
We moved from the North Shore because we wanted to try different areas for when we buy our own place. As it happens we are much happier in Eastern Beach and we have a good circle of friends. Hubby did use the ferry when we first moved down here which takes about 40 mins but the timing of them didn't match up with him leaving the office.
Good luck with whatever you choose. Are you going to be renting or buying?

Yeah it is a longer journey from Bucklands area. The great thing about the North Shore bus is it has it's own dedicated lane on SH1 therefore it gets into the city much quicker.

At least you have an advantage of living here before. We still have a house in the UK which we can't even think about selling until the market picks up plus the awful exchange rate at the moment
If I can be of any further help, please just ask
There is just the two of us so have no idea about best schools but sounds like you already know the good ones.
