Auckland
Hi, I haven't posted here before as I'm in Aus. But I'm soon going to have to go to Auckland for a visa validation trip. I'll be there for about 5 days, from Monday to Friday in the middle of winter.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to some "must do" things in, or around, Auckland? I'll probably be hiring a car so travelling a bit isn't a problem.
My karma is waiting for your suggestions
Carl

have you seen we've had our EOI approved and should be getting our ITA shortly and going off previous members timescales we could have our visas by Aug/Sept...
if you and Cas can wait until then I could suggest a visit to our house as an absolute "must do" thing to put on your list....

You've got to take the obligatory trip up the Sky Tower, offers a fantastic view of Auckland, just don't bother eating at the restaurant. If you like a flutter there is a good casino at the bottom.
Ponsonby in the city has a fantastic bar and Micro Brewery called "St Arnou" we like it there and they do good food.
Although it is winter if it is a good day you could get the ferry over to Waiheke a lovely island with some fantastic vineyards, the ferry only takes about 35 mins from Auckland you can go by foot or by car.
Enjoy!

Don't go to Aukland - too big & spawly and lots of cars. Head somewhere smaller - Invercrgill seems to have everything great beaches, killer whales, penguins, abseiling and beer. What more could you want
