Politicians can always spin a story . They either say "we need more people" or they say "Immigration is pushing house prices and infrastructure resources to breaking point". We've had the skills shortage list (including the Canterbury Rebuild list) for a number of years now but its still bloody hard to attract the necessary people and provide suitable jobs, accommodation, transport, etc etc.
