Arthurs Pass - snow clearing - Stunning!

Unbelievable filming of snow plough clearing the Rail lines through Arthurs Pass in New Zealand, filmed last Thursday 7th June 2012 - sent to me by my brother in NZ. Just had to share.

Absolutely stunning.

Two points.
A. How does the driver see where the rails are to steer on them?
B. Was it the "right type of snow?" As we all know, the wrong type can bring a rail network to it's knees.

A. The train "steers" itself - it just runs on the tracks - the "driver" controls the speed.

B. It looked white and fluffy but I'm not sure. In the United Kingdom, the phrase "right type of snow" became a byword for euphemistic and lame excuses.

Can anyone tell me if this is a specific 'snow' train? I'm suprised not to see any kind of snow scoop/plough on the front.
Can't wait to have my first southern alps skiing experience (probably next season) :(
