Wasnt quite so please selling our cars thru them as we got very low sales price - however, it is a hassle-free way to sell...

Great, I'm glad to hear someone else has had a good experience buying from Turners. I bought my first 2 cars from Penrose and my third one from North Shore, have been happy with all 3.

Yeah, I sold privately because I doubt I would have got a good price had a put it through them, lol. It works well buying but good point about the hassle-free way to sell.

They don't sell them, least not when I've looked round our local ones. the adaptors I'm talking about are the usual holiday ones you'd buy in the UK to bring here if you were on holiday to, say, plug your hairdryer in.

Just want to say thanks to all for the good advice. We are set up now, in Bucklands Beach/Howick depending on where the letter comes from We are going to give it 6 months in a rental to make sure its the area that we want to live in. It will give us achance to look at the other areas wihtout the pressure of time weighing heavy on us.

We hired some basics for a month, tv, fridge feezer, microwave and settee.

Bought a car from an Auction on Gt South Road. Sorted with Telephone, Broadband and a bank now.

Start work on Wed (got an extra day because my line manager is busy on Tuesday)

Better change my profile now. I'll be back soon no doubt asking about the theory test for driving here

Good on ya - good luck settling into that nice part of the world.
theory test - just borrow a copy of the road code and read the questions then the ones you get wrong use the index (where the answers are) to re-read the relevant section.
somewhere I have a crib sheet with all of the little differences - most of these end up in the specialist part of the test. I could scan and post it??
Probably better to take theory test after driving here for a while if you want to pass easier, some things come with time/experience - although I did hear that theory test for UK holders may be scrapped??? ANyone heard that?
Dont do what I did though and sign over an already marked signature pad and have to change your licence as soon as it arrives - my mistake was to go back to the AA with a week's growth on my face and hair out of control to find --- sorry Sir but we have to take your photograph again, NOW, oh well, as the lady smiled and saide "only the Cops will need to see it"!

Try the Dollar shops first, picked up really good ones there far cheaper then 'proper' electric stores. Always leave mine at my cousins house and somehow they're never there when I go back......

Good luck with it all, sooooooo not jealous
