Arranging Employment from the UK
How easy is it to find a job before actually making the move?
I've seen quite a few jobs sites for NZ, but are there a lot of employers actually willing to make a job offer to someone who isn't even in the country yet? Has anyone here been offered a job through any of these sites/agencies before? If so, was it quite a simple process? |

Has anyone here been offered a job through any of these sites/agencies before? If so, was it quite a simple process? My husband has been trying to sort out the same thing. He was told by a recruitment agency that the government has been known to offer a job before the arrival of the candidate. Of course you must have your work visa sorted out first. Mostly he's always emailing agencies, so that we when we arrive he can have direct interviews with the employers. Some companies have basically made an offer, but obviously its for Steve to meet them when we get there, because it might not be right for them or us. Some companies have said they'd 'wait' for the ideal candidate, so presumably if the right person didn't come along before our arrival, he'd stand a chance. Hope this helps you somewhat! Nikki x |
Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
Mates of ours used an agency to find work.
They leave next week on a work to live. |
Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
We've used an agency too. No fees involved. My OH's new employer pays a finders fee directly to the agency :)
EOI submitted 19/12/2006 (with job offer) EOI selected 20/12/2006 ITA received 28/12/2006 ITA is been sent back to london hopefully Tuesday. Put dates in to show how quickly things can move Sarah |
Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
We applied directly (both nurses) to the recruitment department of the hospital we wanted to work at and were offered jobs with telephone interviews.

Hi ya,
Bearing in mind the thread topic, could people please post some details of some of the employment agencies they have used (successfully or not) in the Auckland area, and if possible the type of work that these agencies specalise in. Many Thanks Adie |

Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
I applied for a job via the reed.co.uk website, I didn't get that one but the same agency is going to start sending my cv out to potential employers with the aim of them sponsoring my application.
The agency is called De Winter and it's IT work I'm after but I'm not sure if they place for any other types of jobs. |

Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
See My earlier posting above. ;)
Agency haven't assisted with application. My OH's job is with an accredited employer, which IMO has helped speed the process up. If you need any contact dtails then PM me. |

Thanks. Would you mind posting updates of how you get on with them? I'd be looking in the same field so it would be great to know if they are any good.

Re: Arranging Employment from the UK
I just worked my way through the online NZ yellow pages to get my husband a job and then I emailed the hospital of my choice directly for me and had an interview two days after I landed.
