Around the Bays

Well that was fun. One of the reasons I moved to NZ was to get active. And yesterday, I did the Around the Bays 10k and really enjoyed it. I can guarantee I wouldn't have done anything like it in the UK.

Next one in June!!

Yeah...did it 3 times in 5 years in Wellington...locals sometimes said why would you pay to walk around something that is usually free but that's cash-strapped Kiwis for you.
I have to say like most things it got a bit Groundhog Day in the end though..

Well done S_and_T!

I have never had the urge to take up jogging in the past but since moving here and being able to enter competitions that allow you to run around vineyards makes it much more appealing! I'm doing this one with some girlfriends this weekend :)

Ah yes, I wondered when the first Debbie Downer comment would come along. I didn't envisage it would be as quick as 25 minutes after S_and_T posted but wee part of the forum never ceases to amaze me!

Well done you. Out of curiosity why wouldn't you have done anything like that in the UK? Or is it new beginnings, so a whole new you.

Mr BEVS is rather fond of placing one foot in front of the other.
His last half marathon was just up the way from us. Run Mahana.
This has walks as well as runs. It's a family event. The location is stunning TBH . ( pic attached)

Attachment 116345

It starts and ends in a vineyard. You're encouraged to bring a picnic and listen to the music after the event. Then there are the spot prizes.

The thing Mr BEVS would like are the mud runs. You can't seem to get those here.

Although there is a fun family one. Muddy Buddy

Masters Games
are also good as anyone can enter for anything. Bit pricey mind you against the cost of the 1/2 marathon Run Mahana.
Mr BEVS gain a couple of well deserved medals this year. :)

Well done everyone who took part. I did it last year, but this year I was unable to as I was walking in the Cancer Society Relay for Life in Kapiti.

This year's round the bays has caused some controversy due to the incorrect distances markers! http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post...Round-The-Bays
