Applying to PGDB for gasfitter registration in NZ

Ok I dont know if its just because things go a lot more slowly in NZ or they just dont like qualified persons from overseas applying. I applied for a temporary gasfitters license with the PGDB so that I could be able to work in New Zealand and waited for the response. The form stated that they would check my details and reply within two weeks so I waited patiently. Well nearly a month later and still no response. I telephoned them the other night and discovered that nothing had been done with the application but was reassured that It would be looked into and I would receive an email in the morning. Surprise surprise no email was received!!! So I rang them that night keeping calm and just suggesting that maybe they had the wrong email address. The person I spoke to took my details again and said she would pass the message on but that they were really busy at the moment. Checked my email again this morning still no response :( Is it too much to ask for them just to reply stating that they are checking my application and would be in touch soon. I mean thats just common courtesy! Ive had a telephone interview with a company and this is just holding things up. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem??

Not from the PGDB. But I've had a number of unexplained delays with people following up on things in NZ.

Mind you, it happens in the UK too!

My advice it not to take it personally, practice patience and assume that it's your responsibility to make things happen by being persistent and polite.

I always imagine the person at the other end being swamped by enquiries and desperately overworked. It's easier to be forgiving then

Might be worth asking the company to call them and ask what the timescale is, I'm sure "local" input would help...
