Default Any suggestions for a week's R&R

We're looking to go away for a week in the spring but with a whole country to choose from it's a bit daunting.

Any suggestions where to book a bach with the dogs for a bit of cycling, walking, touring, water, drinking, relaxing (mainly the latter). We just want some peace and quiet and R&R after the rigours of emigrating.

We don't want to have to travel too far from Welly (ie not as far as the Coromandel but not ruling it out) and did Nelson/Abel Tasman on holiday last year so we were thinking Hawkes Bay/East Cape sort of distance away.

Any suggestions/experiences welcome.

We just got back from Hanmer Springs and can higly recommend that!! The hot pools are fantastic and there is plenty of walking, cycling, horse riding around. You could also do a day trip to Kaikoura for the Whale watching. We saw 9 whales when we went!!!
