Question Any Social Worker Expats?

Hi All

So I'm a social worker, 9 years now specialising in Adults, mostly Disabilities. I'm currently a Manager on 45k.

I am posting this in the hope that there will be someone here who may be able to advise me on how they did it.

I've tried looking at job vacancies but I'm struggling to find anything. I was under the impression, despite Covid, NZ still wants social workers.

Anyhow, anything would be more than welcomed.

Many Thanks, Sam

Start by reading this and practice feeling like an outsider 👍 https://trc.org.nz/principles-treaty...tangi-tribunal

Job vacancies probably haven't been posted much due to the Christmas shutdown; have another look in a week or two when everyone is back at work and recruiting for the new year. If you want public sector hospital setting you would need to look at each of the District Health Board's for the regions you are interested in. e.g. A lot of jobs going here in Auckland region DHBs

I am not sure if there are other employers or much else going on in private sector for Mental Health.

Many thanks for the article and for taking the time to reply! I was worried nobody would respond.

I am ND, so have felt like an outsider my whole life everywhere. Most people who go into social work have had some form of difficulty/discrimination, it's why they go into it.

Thank you for replying and your help.

I have done hospital social work before and noted there were some jobs in that area, as there always are over here.

I've always worked as a public servant, but may look at charities also.
