I'm afraid I'm only an expert cake eater!!
But on a serious note, have you had a word with the cake shop opposite the Post Shop in Porirua?

There are 2 bakeries right near each other there... can't remember which is which. Got a pre-made one from there for Ls birthday right after we got here, they put her name on it, it was very nice.
I did her cake for her a few years running. Just got packet mixes and did two circles, then put in a filling (fresh sliced strawberries once the cakes had cooled down). Then I got a bunch of pre-made icing, yeah dead lazy I know, and cut little bits out of the cake before icing it, and made it into a butterfly shape. It looked dead good once I was done with it, little iced-on smile and all. I made the antennae out of two of those toothpicks you put through club sandwiches to hold them together.

We got Joe's and Beth's cakes from Windmills, very nice and they can do pretty much what you want - obviously the more you want the more you pay though! The supermarkets also do cakes with characters on for kids and Wendy's ice cream place do ice cream cakes yum yum - glad we're coming to you party
