Minky that is some location and view
Please keep us updated with all progress and pitfalls. Is it possible to give location so we can see your new property on Google Earth? Who plans out all of the utility services and costs and connections? the builder or does NZ suffer the same idiotic path through the Electric, gas, mains water, storm water, effluent discharge etc that the UK has to put up with. With the utilities incoming who is responsible for connections and maintenance and from what point. Sorry for so many questions but you are in the ideal start position to point me in the right direction.

There is electric to the end of our plot which was put in by the previous owners who owned all the land and they did the cabling themselves then the power company connected it to the transformer but its quite expensive so we have decided to go solar which we will need about 24 panels for electric and another panel to do hot water system. For winter we will have a fire box which will burn wood as we have a few trees this will also heat the water for the radiators. As for water we will capture it from the roof and have two very large tanks as the last two summers have been very dry and a tanker would never get up our drive.Waste water is advan tex system which will have a clear run off.
We have have kept our utility bills from the last four years so we know what we use and will use led lighting also.
All I know its taken a friend three months to get a gas meter fitted and ok for his cafe.
Will try to find coordinates for google as hubby has them just now waiting on the structural drawings which should be another month and then back to council so fingers crosed!
