Having said that, well I didn't, Wiki did, can't remember doing it in the UK as a child, though we did get up to some fun and games! Can we blame ET?
I remember watching the dancing round the maypole as a teenager wondering how many of girls knew what they were dancing around. Then there were the Morris Dancers - no wonder we are all a little strange in the UK.

Just an extension of Penny for the Guy though really, still begging for money from strangers and very much frowned upon by our stuffy victorian parents. Didn't really stop us doing it though, such a bad and wayward child that I was. Carol singing was also a good ruse for extracting pennies from old folks to buy cheap cider and fags.

Get over yourselves. We did apple bobbing, Jack o Lanterns and the like for All Hallows Eve. Mum then told a banshee ghosty story which used to scare me shiteless
