Default Anniversary weekend fun

Well we decided to have an extra long holiday weekend... 2 nights in rotorua and 2 in taupo. Got my first experience of biking up at skyline and in redwoods. Turns out its time for a new bike as mine sucks, so some saving to be done, however after hiring a full suspension bike we know what I'm aiming for, and I managed to get my pace up too. Felt bad for the hubby as he had to wait on me, haven't been on the bike much since being over and he is a pretty full on downhiller. Although saying that he doesn't get the downhill tracks like we had before moving so the dh-ing is almost a distant memory, trail riding it is. Skyline is awesome for biking, plus I didn't have to cycle up like the local tracks! Redwoods, well I just need to get my confidence up and once I get rid of the hardtail I think I'll be on route again!

Weather was awesome for the weekend! Although fatal error staying in the YHA, ha ha, no aircon! But lack of sleep didn't ruin any of the fun! Taupo was as good as always, a dip in the lake to refresh ourselves!

Always good to come home to your own bed though! And for once we had a spotless house as the night before leaving I had a some of the girls round for a jamberry party (turns out I can be slightly girly).

All in all, our extended Wellington anniversary weekend was amazing! Even the pooch had a blast playing with all the other dogs at the kennel and conked out when she came home.

For those who are only classed as a beginner mountain biker you can have so much fun in Rotorua. Obviously you have to pay for skyline, but worthwhile if you are willing to go again. Redwoods you have the option of uplift, or you can cycle/push up.

Now that I'm finding the love for biking again, we can start taking the dog back out!!!
