America's Cup
Is anybody else getting onto the bandwagon, I mean, appreciating this?
On my first visit to Auckland in 2001, my wife's kiwi family spoke about little else.
Since I moved here in 2008 nobody has mentioned it.
Now, they have all started talking about it again, it is on TV and everything!
Will it (that thing they do in boats, whatever it's called) become the new national sport ahead of Rugby?

Must admit I'm not really into it, but the recent coverage has caught my eye. I love being able to watch (Or listen with half an ear whilst getting kids ready).
I watched this morning as I thought Ben Ainslee on the Oracle boat might make it more of a race, but it didn't

There are several tv screens in the office that I work in and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning they were all tuned to the boat thing.
About half of the kiwis (and some of the immigrants) all stopped work to watch.

Have just been called a Grinch as I don't share my colleagues enthusiasm for the boat race with 2 entrants and unlimited resources. Yawn.

90% of the office go in for the event and cram around the tele during the day. Sorry but I don't find it remotely interesting at all, in fact the NZ commentator doing his best Clive Tyldsley impression makes me want to turn it off
I have already had the 'you lot find 22 men kicking a football exciting' comment in response to not watching it. This coming from a nation that finds 30 people rolling in mud chasing an egg exciting - oooooooooook

I've never known bandwagon jumping like it, and the worst thing, I'm being forced to fund possibly the most boring sporting event I've ever seen.
Yet another sporting event the Kiwi's think they're getting worldwide coverage about when is reality no one other than them care about it.

I have just this day learnt that one wears red socks in support of Team NZ. My sock choice of the day was blue. Oops.

Could the Americans be the real heroes here? Coming from behind, backs against the wall showing no contrition?
