am I too old to mingle
Hi Guys
I am 39 from Liverpool and a nurse, looking to move out to nz alone at the beginning of next year... I am very social, love chilling with friends etc but am worried that I would be considered as too old to be accepted by other expats when trying to get myself a circle of friends together.... also everyone appears to meet as couple... are there any singles out there?

Hi Melanie. I'm 41 and about to move to Auckland.... you're never too old to mingle! I will be moving with my hubbie (no kids).... but I am allowed out on my own! Can't speak for other expats... but I think many people with kids prefer to mix with people with kids.

If you come with an open mind and be prepared to accept every invitation you get (I'll attend the opening of an envelope) then there's no reason why you shouldn't make friends. I threw myself in to work initially and met people that way, but also through the ex-pats. I live in an area with a large ex-pat population and we have meet ups and gatherings occasionally so that helped in the beginning. Of course I don't do so many now as I've been here just over four years. I always intend to try and think of new arrivals and try and set something up for them, but I'm so busy in other ways now that it can be difficult to do.

I prefer to leave mine anywhere...in the car, at the park
I've had her for long enough now - the novelty's worn off
