With the way the World Cup is seeded they almost certainly will play a good team. Of the top seeds 8 only South Africa will be a weak team, and theres a chance that even England wont make it into the top 8 seeds. How about a group with Brazil, England, Australia and New Zealand?

Brazil, Spain, Holland, Italy, Germany, Argentina, - definately
Plus two from England, Potugal and France.
The irony is that despite Potugal and France having to play qualifiers, they will get more ranking points under the FIFA sytem than England playing friendlies.
Also the seeding system goes on perfonces int he last WC and EC too. France and Potugal will out score England in that case.
We could see a group with Brazil, England, Australia and New Zealand.

Re: All Whites
Think thats a trifle unfair. They were under HUGE pressure and nerves for the first 15 mins, but settled to their task well. One volley and the pen aside, they kept a team ranked 21 places higher than them under control for 90 mins.
In the end they were the stronger team....
.....and as to how they will perform in South Africa...well that's what makes football such a good game. The best team on paper doesn't nearly always win (unlike most other team sports - rugby, cricket, basketball etc.)
Think about Greece a few years ago, or Wimbledon!

Re: All Whites
South Africa will be seeded too, as hosts. So it'll be one from England, and Portugal+France assuming they get through the qualifiers. As France made it to the final last time we can assume Steve Macs disastrous Euro campaign as England manager has made their attempts to win it this time more difficult.

Re: All Whites
Yeah, always been the way with the hosts. So you could end up with England, Brazil, Ivory Coast and the USA in a "group of death" but South Africa, Serbia, Uruguay and New Zealand in an errr "Group of Life"
