AIR NZ skycouch- anyone used it?

Hi-
we are debating booking the skycouch for 2 adults and an infant. Just wondering if anyone has used it and what they think. Also would you still recommend taking on an infant carseat to the flight as we have one that can be used on all airlines.
I am thinking the couch would be great our (then) 18 month old and could sleep lying down but at the same time the carseat has a good recline and she would be more supported when sitting up. Just wondering if we get the couch that maybe the carseat goes in the hold so it doesnt take up space??? any advice/experiences would be great. If we dont get the couch we are still buying her a seat as no way are we doing the journey with her on our laps!!

Too small for two adults and an infant, one adult and an infant would be ok. Two adults would be very uncomfortable.

I was going to say the same. When the seats in front get reclined you end up with very little room even on a skycouch. I have seen them used in the last year and was not impressed/convinced.
Depends on when you are flying but outside of the more popular times you might well find the flight is not full anyway.

Thanks great- just watched it. Kind of made our minds up for us. Our friends used it on one leg but they are a petite family so it worked for them!
I think we;ll just go with 3 seats!!

The 4 couples/families I know who have partaken have all said it wasn't worth the extra moolah.

We are a family of five (kids aged 6,9, 10) and have used the Sky Couch and not. We like it a lot. I'm 6'4" and I will sit with the younger two who fold out their portion of the couch and sleep. My wife will sleep with our older one with her three seats fully folded out. No matter what I do I'm uncomfortable so I enjoy a movie or so, try and get a nap in, then get up and hang out by the galley with a cup of coffee and read my kindle. Once my wife wakes up I will lay with my oldest and get an hour or so solid sleep and am relatively comfortable. By then breakfast is served and we are there. We will not fly without the skycouch because whereas I function fine on very limited sleep I don't function when everyone else is crabby and the skycouch gets them enough rest to wake up rested. Hope this helps.

I was given an upgrade for part of my plane journey, and had a sky couch - 3 seats and just me. DEFINITELY worth it, although I am still not sure i could afford that price had I paid in full. BUT i was able to get a proper sleep for sure.
