aiming to be in Auckland by end of August!
Hi
We're hoping to move to Auckland by the end of August, still not definate and it's getting really stressful! As we're hoping to move so quickly, we've had to bring our wedding forward from december to the 8th august, in the last few weeks I've gone from having 7months to plan to 2months, rearranging everything is proving to be a little hectic!!
On top of that, hubby to be is on his way to New Zealand on the 14th June for a week of interviews. If he secures a job while he's out there, we'll be gone as soon as possible after the wedding. While he's gone, I'll be packing up the house to move onto my parents boat, so we have as much money behind us as possible when we go.
With the tight time scale, we won't know if we're going for definate until the notice has been handed in on our flat and I've got rid of practically everything we own (we have nothing really worth shiping out, except 4 boxes of personal stuff).
I'm all over the place at the moment!! Really excited and desperate to move but don't want to put too much pressure on my oh, and don't want too let myself get excited until things are definate incase it all falls through!!
Any suggestions on nice places to live in the Auckland area? Don't want to e right in the city, and won't have much money so cheap and cheerful will be what we're looking for, just don't want to accidentally move to the red light district without realising (did that backpacking round Oz a few years ago)!
Any advice about any aspect of moving to NZ would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

Leaving the Isle of Wight cos we're bored, have itchy feet and want to get out of the UK!! Done a lot of research and can't wait to move (if it all comes through)
Pretty sure my marriage won't fall apart!!! If one of us hates it after a year then we'll move on, but will never ever come back to the UK!!! Especially not the Isle of Wight!!!! It sucks!!
Would really appreciate some helpful comments or advice! Really didn't come on here to be told not to move!!

is there really any need for this?? didn't come on here to be abused and have my marriage slated!! If my hubby is going to 'hump' someone else I'm sure he'd be just as likely to do it here as in NZ! Please don't bother replying to my posts again! You seem rather bitter about something, but its really not my problem!!

Don't stress they'll have their run of fun and be banned by the morning.
Come on over. It's all good here.
Wr;ve been here just over a year and absolutely love it. We came over with 4 kids and no jobs (Hubby a Kiwi) and in all honestly couldn't be happier.
Go for it, follow your dreams, life's too short not to.
Good luck.

Hi
Cheers! Where abouts in NZ are you? Any good websites for flat hunting?
Can't wait to go (if it all goes through) been desperate to live abroad since I was a kid! Can't believe in 3 months I could be married and living in New Zealand...it's a bit much to take in!! I guess once Ben has a job offer it'll start to sink in a bit more!!

Wow, it really is all go at the moment for you isn't it. I know I couldn't cope with getting married and emigrating in such a short space of time, but I am the family worrier. Marriage is a new start to the rest of your life so why not? Good luck and I hope you get there by the end of August!
Oh, and ignore the troll. Plenty of people post their positive and negative aspects of life in NZ on here so we all get a balanced view. You don't seem to be wearing rose tinted spectacles.

It is a huge move, but why not? We did it with 4 kids and 2 dogs. Been here 14 months now and absolutely love it. I love where we live, but I also love Auckland.
Flat hunting, hmmm, have you tried www.trademe.co.nz and in the short term www.bookabatch.co.nz?

Looking to move out in next 9 months ourselves - was originally looking at Auckland but now possibly looking at Christchurch.
When we went over at Easter we found Greenhithe, Albany, Mairangi Bay, Browns Bay, Torbay and Long Bays all to be nice areas although some houses can be quite pricey sometimes - Glenfield was ok and a bit cheaper.
We had heard Bucklands Beach, Half Moon Bay, Mellons Bay and Cockle Bay may be nice but did not have chance to look around.
All the best with your move and your new adventure.
Ignore 'doggerfanny' - from all previous posts and lots of them recently would guess that has very limited vocabulary and not many mates looking at volume of posts - perhaps needs to get out a bit more and socialise with other humans rather than mouthing off through a keyboard :-)
