Default agencies ?? to use or not to use??

e-migration new zealand ltd are offering to get you legally into NZ for £3000 english with money back if unsuccessful.
we pass the points system and have 125 points and i firm job offer in an area of immediate skills shortage for which i am fully qualified and have 10 years exp. they claim to be able to fastrack stuff and get us there for august which we would like very much.
what do they actually do for their money as with no obvious overheads i cannot see how it can cost this much. does anyone know anything about this or any of the other agencies plying their trade in the uk.
we cannot bear the thought of the NZIS web site anymore and are sick of the dead ends and lack of help so the thought of an agency sort of appeals.
good or bad please let us know

Hi,
in my opinion, they're a waste of money, as if you have the points & can prove it, then the process, whilst quite stressful etc, is realtively straight forward. I suppose if they give you your money back, then thats fair enough, my opinion is that you'll be giving away at least £3000 (could be more i've heard & read). God alone knows what the do with the money.
We did it ourselves & it was ok, you jst need to be prepared, have loads of documents ready, have the money for the medicals & application ready & be prepared to send even more documents than you thought. The process through agencies is exactly the same, they cant cut any corners for you, they just know what you need & as a result, let you know in advance instead of the old 'god i didnt know we needed that document' & this delaying things.
My personal opinion is do it yourself, they might save you a month or so, but thats an expensive month (flight money for about 3 or 4 people is the equivalent).
The whole process is not easy on the nerves, but i wouldn't pay someone to do it.

Its not stressful if you have everything ready, or it shouldn't be. Its just nerve wracking, or it is for most people, because its something you want so much, but is sort of out of your hands.
As far as the references are concerned, any agency will make you get them if you want points for them, so thats the same issue. We were in a similar position, we could have claimed for more points on the EOI for my partners experience, but felt we couldn't prove the work, so left the older ones off, & put down what we knew we could prove, can you do the same & maybe lose 5 points or so ?? we actually ended up proving them & sent them in with the application with a note saying why we'd left them off, but if we couldn't have done, we'd have been ok points wise anyway,
i would say this process is less stressful than selling 2 houses, its worrying, its potentially frustrating, but i just personally dont see that spending £3000 for someone else to worry for you is worth it. Like i said, thats 4 flights in economy or 2 in business......big cash (to me anyway) In hindsight, i now wonder what the owrry & stress was for, its ok i suppose, just as i say, nervewracking.....
but what i would say is definitely go for this, its a great place,
where is your job offer for ???
as far as the references are concerned, if you do get them make sure they put on them what you were doing & the dates (we made the mistake of asking for them just to say 'confirm she worked here full time between.....', when we sent them off they made us get some stating what the work was, it was a glaring oversight on our part, but easy enough to make i suppose, thing is, we were lucky enough to be able to get new ones, if its hard enough for you to get them in the first place, make sure they're exactly right.....they (nzis) can be pretty keen on the content of them....

If you clearly satisfy the NZIS points requirement, agencies are a waste of money - you will still have to gather all the info whether you use an agency or not.

If you want peace of mind/ hand held, I can recommend through personal use an excellent NZ agency (send me a PM) that we used (yeah, yeah, hadn't met this site etc etc).

Friendly, professional, knowledgable since they are ex-NZIS and far cheaper than 3 grand GBP. More like 1 and a bit.

hi again and thanks for your informative reply
i am stuck on the same thing with the eoi form and was wondering if i could ring you for advise as i am being lead round in circles and cannot get the info i need.
with the points not being a problem the one thing i am stuck on is the nzqa business.
with an offer of skilled employment i am told that my city and guilds quals are fine as long as they are backed up with neccessary exp. but how do i find out whay quals they are equivilent to (needed to fill in form)without sending them off and paying more money and waiting for up to two months. the agency said that as the job on offer is on the immediate skills shortage that i do not need to send them off but another agency said i needed to send certified copies of them (by solicitor cost £175) and wait for the two months. its frustrating as i may as well send the originals and get new copies as that would be cheaper. this is my problem as i cannot get decent advise.
the rest of the form is ok as it looks like i'll get around 160 points so as long as i get it right all should be ok.
time is of the essence for us as the medicals and police checks were done 1 month ago and will be invalid in another eight weeks and if we get them in real soon all will be ok.
my email address is on an above post if you are up for a chat it would be much appreciated as i need to make the decision in the next few days.
help !!!!!!!
i really need it
best wishes

Hiya...

We were going to use Malcolm Pacific until they told us it would cost £3K.
We then contacted a lawyer who specialises in Aus/NZ moves and she told us to do it ourselves as it was easy to do. We followed her advise and did it ourselves. It took one week for our EOI to be successful... then we had the medicals and did everything else... we submitted the Application on the Tues and had a phone call 2 days later from Immigration telling us to book our flights!!

Yes it was quite easy and yes as the others say you need quite a bit of paperwork to back everything up but its worth it!!

Good luck
