Agencies

Hi all. Have a lot of people who have moved abroad used an agency? I have emailed a few and they have all been really helpfull and say that with them you have a lot more of a chance to gain residency than if you did it on your own.

I know it costs a bit to go through an agent but is it the better option? Also can anyone advise on any good ones?

Hi Rob,

Don't think you will find too many on this site that have used agencies. Most people have done it on their own and it is a fairly straightforward process. If you have the right amount of points/job offer/skills, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
However, if you have a complex case, then I believe that there are specialist agencies that can help but if you are a 'bog standard' application, the general advice would be to save your money and do it yourself.

Hope that helps?

Best of luck

Karen

We did our move with an agency and i can say honestly it is a waste of money unless as others have said you case is complicated.

The forms are easy to do and there's lots of people on here that will give you a hand if you get stuck.

Its up to you though but in hind sight we would never have paid that huge amount of money for a service we could have done ourselves.

Put your money towards u new life down under

It's easy to do on your own- ask on here, we'll help:thumbup:

You have no more chance by going with an agency than by doing it yourself, unless of course you have a complex/difficult case and need extra assistance.
NZIS do not give priority to those applications coming via an agent.

Save your cash, this whole process is expensive enough without paying someone to fill out forms for you:p

It's easy to go it alone, lots of people do and you can ask questions on here.

You will still have to find the information and paperwork the agency need anyway so I think you would be using them as an expensive post office!!!!!

I know someone who used an agency to get in Oz and when they got there the agency had cocked up and he couldn't work as an electrican because they hadn't sorted out his registration. That could really have gone bums up fortunately it didn't and he's sorted now.

I echo everyone else - don't use an agency and just do it yourself.

We went through an agency, shelled out lots of $'s, and in the end they did nothing for us except fill in a few forms, tick a few boxes, and give us a lot of mis-placed hope.

We only got our residency after I put in the hard yards myself.

It really isn't as daunting as it seems, (and that was one of the main reasons we went with one as we both hate paperwork) and if I can find my way through it then any numpty can!

You stand no better chance with an agent or without unless you have a special case. i.e. A medical problem .

If you have the skills that NZ wants & you fit the health and good character criteria , then you can apply and do the paperwork yourselves.
