advise on schooling please
Ive an 8 years old and a 12 year old, could you tell me about the system regarding visa's required this please. Is it easy to get the kids straight into a school?.

They should automatically get a 'student visa' dependent on your work visa....for many schools you have to live in the 'zone' to be automatiaclly entitled to go there....you can read the equivalent of Ofsted reports on NZ schools on the ERO website - decile 10 indicates majority of the kids from relatively affluent backgrounds...decile 1 indicates the opposite and there are all the degrees inbetween although in Wellington many schools seem to be decile 10.
Where you buy or rent more or less determines which state school your child has the right to enrol at....so it's arguably an important decision. Not sure what happens if you subsequently move out of the particular zone when moving from rental to buying but someone else may know.
