Advise needed for shipping to Christchurch
 

Hi,

We are hoping to relocate from Auckland to Christchurch very soon and just wondered if anyone can advice us with regards to shipping companies, costs and how long it would take roughly. Any advise would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

I agree We had a bad experience ourselves with Crown when we came over, so we'll avoid them. Any more ideas out there?

Just a thought but is the harbour still docking ships and what's happened to the containerised storage down there?

Would have thought Auckland to Chch would be box-and-truck rather than containerised???

Hi, we've just used "The Moving Company", very reasonable, give them a bell for a quote. sue

I phoned the Moving Company for a quote so thanks, Sue.

It appears the removals is by land not sea, I didn't realize.

yes the port is still working, Neil works there and is at work today.

I'd be very interested to hear roughly how much it costs if you're happy to share the information when you've got the quote.

The Moving Company quoted (estimate) around $6000 to $6500 for a 40 foot container or roughly a 4 bedroom size house GST inclusive but not insurance. We were advised to keep our insurance costs down we could pack as much as we can ourselves. What do you think?
