Default Advice request - Auckland baby equipment

Hi all. 4 months pregnant and getting fat!!! Can any new mums recommend inexpensive maternity clothes shops (I've found K-mart and JK) - nothing flash just cheap basics to get me through. Also I need a few bits of baby equipment, has anyone found a "slightly seconds" or "end of factory line" type of outlet in the depths of any Auckland suburb - again somewhere that is a wee bit cheaper than the likes of "Babycity" ??
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks, Sam

Try www.babyonthemove.co.nz
They specialise in the hire of baby equipment, which is a really ecconomical way to have the equipment, especailly things you only need for a short period of time, moses basket/bassinett, baby capsule etc

Cheers

Hi Sam

Have you looked on trademe? I've just sold all my baby stuff back in the UK on ebay & TBH most of it looked liked new because they're not in it for long.

I loved this part of being pregnant, I think it was one of the few things in the early days that makes it seem real !! Oh & bl**dy morning sickness

Thanks both of you. I'll look at the website, I had thought of Trademe, but just wondered if there were any backstreet outlets in south Auckland somewhere that someone had found! I'm goint to St Lukes later today, so will take a detour through Three Kings/Balmoral and Onehunga to see if I can spot anything - there's bound to be something somewhere that sells slightly "questionable" merchandise at cheaper than shop prices!!

Hello, I can't help with those bits because I'm a babycity/baby factory addict, but can suggest plunkett for car seat rental. Someone said trademe, that's an excellent resource for baby bits. Good luck with the pregnancy! Have a 5 five month old, seems a long time ago I was pregnant!

lol.... I had wondered if my name would be mentioned here!

OK, I searched hi and lo for maternity wear here without too much success, what I did find was outrageously expensive.... it was winter/spring so I bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans from Pumpkin Patch... and then ordered the tops I wanted from Dorothy Perkins online and got them sent over to me. I think I got 6 shirts/tops and they cost me £60 and £8 for a rellie to post them to me.... that worked out a lot less than what it would have cost me here... I was gutted when I visited the DP site a week later and found all the shirts at half price... lol... from £3 each!!

Heres the site I used...

www.dorothyperkins.com

My friend is 8 months preggy now and has my DP shirts but I still have the PP maternity jeans here if they are any good to you.... they are nice and would be ideal now for winter coming up.... they are a size M.... let me know as I dont need them anymore and they are still in great condition...you can have them if you like.

Also, as others have suggested try TradeMe.

Let me know about the jeans

Sarah x
