Advice please - work or study option?

Hi, this is our first post on this forum so bear with me :)

We are currently in the EOI pool with 105 points, so unless we get a job offer, we have little chance of being selected.

I have a headhunter over in NZ looking out for project manager roles in IT but he feels it could take sometime to find a role (up to a couple of years what with the economy as it is?). One option we have toyed with is going over for 6 months to job search.

Another option has been suggested by an emigration company in NZ (who I feel are reputable), by studying 1yr on a LTSS IT graduate diploma. While there is a cost, there are advantages of work permits for us for 2yrs, which could possibly extend to 4yrs. Plus, we get upto 120 points on the EOI and come under the LTSS category for selection.

Some questions:
- has anybody heard of this option before and is it worth considering (especially in the current climate), just to get our "foot in the door" of NZ?
- would appreciate any local news as to what the job market is like on the North Island like for IT at the moment?

We are in the process of selling our house in the UK, so that we can pursue NZ, as want to move out of our current area anyway, plus release capital so we can be flexible in our approach.

Cheers
Peter
