Advice on moving to, working and renting in Tauranga

Hi all,

Firstly I would like to say what a great help this site this has been in deciding to make the move and with useful posts on the immigration process. Thank you to all who contribute.
My girlfriend and I are moving from the UK to Tauranga in 3 weeks I have a WTR visa and she has a WHV. I am looking for some advice on rental properties and job opportunities for my partner.

We have sorted out temporary accommodation for the first 4 weeks and we are hoping to find a more permanent rental during this period, is this enough time? I have recently read some horror stories about the rental market in NZ (Chch mainly) and I am getting concerned that this might not be enough time, other peoples experiences would be great. Also as we are not shipping over furniture, any advice on the best place to source furniture on a budget would be appreciated (we have had a look on trademe).

As my gf is only on a WHV she has not yet sourced any work in NZ as the main driver for us going was my WTR visa. I was also looking for any advice on the best places to look for temp work in and around Tauranga? She has previous experience in admin/research roles.

Any advice on these would be great, thanks.

Hi,
Yeah we made it. I can't believe we've been here two months already. Still can't believe we're here, the first warm Christmas was a bit odd, but snorkelling on New Years day was brilliant.
