Advice on Dunedin

Re: Advice on Dunedin
We live in Wakari, just over the hill from the more expensive Roslyn/Maori Hill areas!!! We love it here, good dog walking on our doorstep, 10 mins to town, shops nearby and reasonable house prices. Hello Matt

Re: Advice on Dunedin
We have been in Dunedin for just over three years now (Brits). As the other poster noted, watch out for areas that don't get enough/any winter sun - you'll freeze your bits off. We live in Maori Hill just along from Roslyn and its a lovely area, but even here some streets/houses are tucked in dips and can stay frosty for days when everywhere else has cleared. The local council has maps showing winter sun coverage and ask the estate agent very clear questions about it - they all are super friendly but are working for the other party.
We asked lots of questions before carefully choosing a villa in a sunny spot and then insulated, double glazed and centrally heated it. It cost a bunch of money but seems like we will get it back - just going on the market now. We expected to only sell to other expats but several agents told us that even Kiwis are coming around to the idea of warm, dry, healthy homes. About time.
Happy to help if you have any questions about the area. Dunedin is a great town, so much friendlier than Auckland and *most* of the amenities.

A bit of Christchurch , check out the house along maungatua road towards big hill across from airprot , that house was moved from Chch and rebuilt here on the taieri , it's up with lj hooker ID 2XCGEX , 495 maungatua road .
We have lived in Dunedin for over 8 years now , lived in town and now live out by airport , quite life, try outram village , that's awesome, but house prices stay higher as sought after area .
Good luck with you choices .
