Accountancy/finance jobs

Does anyone have any experience of securing accountancy or finance jobs in NZ based on their UK qualifications?

Although we are moving to NZ based on having already secured a job myself, my wife is concerned that she may not be able to find suitable work for her.
She does specialise in charity finance but is prepared to go into business finance if required. She is an AAT accounting technician with additional charity finance qualifications.

Any advice/help/info will be much appreciated.

AAT should be recognised by the NZICA for its College of Accounting Technicians. http://www.nzica.com

Thanks for that JAJ, I am sure that will be a relief to her. I will do a bit more investigating to keep her happy.

There are a lot of ex-pats working in accounting recruitment and the locals come across that many Brits they are pretty good with UK quals.

I found that lots of jobs quote CA as required but they were happy to be flexible. CA seems to be the primary qualification here, but CIMA was recognised once you ask.

Where are you looking?

I Have CIMa and AAT and had no problems both in Wellington and Auckland. I also had staff from Sri Lanka, Phillipines and UK all with various levels of Finance quals some can be converted to NZICA with just sitting 2 papers others require more. what you will find though is as long as you have PR you will not have a problem securing a role, jobs are often through agencies so its worth registering with several. PM if you wish to have specific details
