Hi Everyone,

Moving out to Auckland in a couple of weeks as I have a job to start there, never been there before so a bit nervous.

When I get there I will need somewhere to stay for a month or so until my girlfriend comes and joins me and we can find somewhere permanent.

Can anyone reccommend anywhere near Northcote to stay or anywhere where I can look for somewhere to stay?

I am looking for the cheapest I can get to be honest, would prefer some sort of house/flat share so that I can get to know some people, but a hotel/motel type thing would be ok too.

I cant seem to find anything below $105 per night, does that sound about right?

We are looking for the same sort of thing for my OH, he is going out in Aug hopefully, to job hunt. Try looking at auckland.gumtree.co.nz at the flatshare section, there are loads of flatshares from about $150 per week.

What are you looking at?? A bit too much me thinks! I work for a 3.5 * hotel and for a month stay we sometime drop rates as low as $75/night... And we're pretty well located!

Flatshare is in my opinion a good idea... And I have seen some pretty nice ads on trademe. Take some time to dig in it & look daily....

The one thing to remember is that flatshare will be looking for min 3-6 months... So may have to revert to services appt or hotel/hostels...
