Default 1st Day of Spring

Just thought I'd let you Poms know that the sun's out - it's about 15C here on the Kapiti coast, shorts are on, cherry tree's coming out in blossom, rhodos and proteas are in full flower, dog's losing his winter coat, heat pump is off, patio doors are open, sunglasses on, salads on the menu soon, life is good.

Oh and I've got Fridays off.

Sweet as.

Just make sure you get Fridays off though.
Makes it all so much more pleasant. Right - better go and do something productive - like mow the lawns.

Where's my bottle opener?

It is beautiful in Auckland too For the last few mornings the first thing I've heard (after the alarm ) is the sound of bird song. Makes it REAL easy to get out of bed Happy days!

but yay summer is on its way after 9 months of what feels like an eternal winter for me, winter in uk to arrive in winter here

One of the most fantastic sounds I have ever heard and now so typifies NZ for me is the wonderful calling of the Tui. I'll never tire of it. We're planting trees to attract them at our new house.

Now speaking of Tui............where's my bottle opener?

Weatherman said its 18c here in Christchurch, but was a little too windy for my liking. Its a great feeling though - knowing that summer is just around the corner....

Well, if you've got a husband who snores like mine you're wearing earplugs and don't hear the birds until you take them out

Our rental we were in had 4 trees on a full section.... how boring. Now we have own our house and we have dozens of trees and bushes. We love it!! Yes we have more flies in the house but can live with that. Winter is cool here too as there are still trees with flowers on..... theres always colour everywhere and of course all the citrus fruit..... mmmmm

My OH snores so bad hes in a different room to me!! He really is THAT BAD! When we were waiting for the container to arrive with the 2nd bed in I had to sleep in the same bed as him for 6 weeks!! I was tired all the time..... I was grumpy and bad tempered. I have friends who say how can I possibly sleep in a different bed...... well unless you live with a loud snorer youll never know how bad it is to be so sleep deprived.
