13th country

To allow homosexuals marriage

Good funny speeches in Parliament I felt whilst discussing it. The rainbow rain comment was magnficient. So nice to see some light heartedness being spoke round the government table

First as well to allow this in the asia-pacific region. Didn't realise Australia rejected this, thought they'd have gone down the same route as well

I hope one day to be invited to one of these weddings, be a unique experience I reckon. As long as it's not too overboard like those gypsy weddings are

From my local MP who voted against:

Mr Hayes said he believed strongly in voting according to the majority views of his electorate.
Majority view huh? I very much doubt this being at least equally familiar with the electorate :sneaky:.

"In response to my request for constituents' views, I have received several thousand replies by way of phone calls, letters, and emails."

His request must have been in the local free rag. Well, I only use that to line the bottom of the cat's litter trays.... so he didn't get my view, either. And as there are 38,610 people in his district, 'several thousand replies' hardly seems to be 'a majority'. Idiot needs to learn how to count! But hey, he's a politician, and if he was able to count he could get a proper job.

Re: 13th country

The gays (can I say that?) put on a local debate with Labour MP Louisa Wall and Green Party MP Kevin Hague and their opponents Conservative Party leader Colin Craig but National MP John Hayes couldn't be bothered to turn up so they substituted a religious mentalist.

He later said that despite the capacity attendance he didn't think it was an important issue. I can at least respect Colin Craig for being willing to debate his views (and he did articulate them very well even saying he felt the issue should go to a referendum), MP John Hayes however... completely unjustifiable for an elected MP in my view .
