Default TV Programmes (Political Debates)

Dear Everyone,

I am wondering if someone, who is currently living in the Netherlands, could tell me any political debates tv shows exist on the Dutch TV? I mean more like a political TV show where a certain problem is discussed and different Dutch or foreign politicians or political observers are invited to debate these questions. If something like this exists, could you give me the titles of these programmes?

Thank you in advance,

Clarris

Not aware of any Newsnight clones here. The nearest might be DWDD (De wereld draait door/the world keeps turning) which often makes the news because of some revelation by a Dutch politician. However, it's kind of a cross between Newsnight and the One Show, as they also have celebrities Dutch actors, musicians, comedians, etc), media commentators, and other guests too.

There is also a channel (not a show) which you might find useful (if you speak Dutch) http://www.npo.nl/live/npo-politiek

This might possibly fit the bill, http://www.eenvandaag.nl/ but is perhaps like DWDD, and covers other topical issues.

Thank you very much!
I will check this programme now!

Maybe they have anything similar to the Daily Show (an American TV show by Comedy Central)? Something on the side of political satire if they do not have much of political debate shows?

Greg Shapiro used to do a Dutch version of (US) The Daily Show called Comedy Central News on (you guessed it) Comedy Central. Sadly, only the promo seems to have made it to Youtube

If it's commentary on Dutch politics (by an American comedian) he IS your man! Had the pleasure of seeing him many times at the old Boom Chicago in Amsterdam (now under new ownership and a pale imitation of the original without the previous cast).

This is an example: plenty of him (but not the show) on Youtube.

Have just checked him out - I actually really like his programme, thank you!
It is very useful to me and he is good !

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

If you remember any more programmes or tv shows that are similar to Newsnight or any other debating TV shows that discuss stuff like local politics, international politics, climate change and stuff like that - I would really appreciate if you share it.

Buitenhof.

Pauw & Witteman, but that's not on any more.

They both have debats between people with opposing opinions.

Vandaag de Dag and Nieuwsuur have people discussing - or rather giving their view of -current affairs. Not really a debat, though.

The NOS is the Dutch public broadcaster (or whatever the correct terminology is). Besides TV do they also use the Internet as distribution medium. On internet they have a specific channel about politics. I haven't watched it myself, but they say that they broadcast for example sessions of the Tweede Kamer (Dutch Lower House). Plus all kind of other things related to politics.
