Moving to Amsterdam
Hi,
Hopefully someone will be able to give me some advice...
I am aiming to move to Amsterdam so that I can live with my Dutch girlfriend in June. She is a Dutch national and lives and works there already.
Does anybody have any advice on how best to find a job over there for English speakers? I am happy to work in a bar etc until I find a more highly paid job. What job agencies are there for expats/ english speakers? How quickly do expats usually find these sorts of jobs?
I have a BSc in Sport Science and will be graduating with an MSc in Medical Microbiology in September.

Ask your girlfriend and use the Web once you are over. INDEED.NL is probably one of the best places to start looking. Once you have your degrees in the pocket start looking again. There should be sport oriented jobs going someplace I should imagine..Good Luck.

With a MSc in Microbiology, you should be aiming for one of the many pharma companies over here. It's an industry where lack of fluent Dutch won't hurt you initially. Start seeking these out with targeted speculative applications and forget agencies who will take their share of your salary. Linked In might also be your friend, as a highly skilled individual - and if you can secure a contract before you move here - you might be able to apply for the 30 percent tax ruling, something that won't be open to you if you move here before getting that role.

Re: Moving to Amsterdam
Thank you both for your replies.
I have tried to look for jobs in my field however they seem to be few and far between and most require Dutch. I am willing to learn the language but just need a job to get settled in the country.
Do you know of any pharma companies around the Amsterdam area?
