How much money to save??
Okay here goes.. Roughly how much money would you say you would need to save before moving to the Netherlands?

thats going to completely depend on what you plan to do when you move here.
When I did it I came with around €3k, but was living in my partners house and he worked to earn money for us both, thus I lasted around 8 months before getting a job.

Hard to answer. City or town? Already have a job or not? Dependants or none? Even so, a good rule of thumb is 3 months of your monthly expenses at the moment, because prices are pretty comparable.

On the France forum, we always advise potential expats to bring enough to tide them over for a year if they haven't got a job lined up, e.g. at least €12000 (1000€ per month being the official poverty threshold for one person to SURVIVE). I believe you have a child, which implies half that sum again if you don't wish to count your centimes. The cost of living might be cheaper in the Netherlands, but the French norm seems a good figure to start from.
