Default Would You Buy Back Your Old House?

I've just had an email from my ex-neighbour in the UK telling me that the people who bought my house in April want to move on already and are putting it back on the market. It's a bit of a shock really as they were absolutely desperate to buy it.

Would anyone else who is returning home want to buy back their old house or has anyone actually done it? Personally I wouldn't buy mine back - I'd prefer to move on.

I dont think I would.

Just because you are returning to the same country doesnt mean it isnt the start of something new.

No I wouldn't. I'd rather move onto to something new .... I think I'd feel flat if I moved back into the old place, kind of going backwards, when in reality so much has changed!

I wouldn't. We bought it for 84k and sold it four years later for 250k. So apart from anything else - I couldn't afford to, lol. It was in a great town in a lovely area but it was *very* small - would hate to go back to that constant battle with the space fairy.

It wouldn't even enter my head, the house was the ideal house for us when we moved into it, but now it would be too small. Although I would hope my oldest would be thinking of moving out soon I am probably wrong though!

I wouldn't even consider the same village, but only cos we had a lot of problems there with bullying, one of the surrounding villages would be a possible!

How are you after your accident last week?

I think I would. It was a nice house in a nice area, suited me fine then so no reason it wouldn't now.

I think I would in one way...but not in another...I would want a move back to the UK to be somewhere different...but if I had to go back to the same area for any reason...I would love to have my old house back...

If it was a good house in a good area and I was happy there, I don't see why not. I've put so much work into the houses I've owned (and the gardens, blood sweat and tears!) it would be nice to reap the rewards of my hard work - plus, you never know what you are getting when you buy someone else's house (as I am discovering in my current house!), whereas at least you know a house you've owned before, warts and all.

In a heartbeat. I loved my house........like Dunroving, I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears in my previous house and the garden. I had it just perfect when we moved. Plus, I loved the neighborhood and area.

Similar feelings here. Too many memories...... mainly of bringing up our kids. In any event it would be far too big now, just for the two of us, and 'kids' visiting occasionally.

We now have a 3-bed flat which is all we'll need when we move back eventually. Plus I'd rather spend my money on opera tickets and the like than endless maintenance and repairs...

Pretty much he same as you Elvira, although on top of opera tickets i'd go a few rock concerts, and sporting events thrown in

I have discovered since being back that not only would i not buy our old house back, i dont even want to live in the same area. I am loving the familiarity of Britain and all i hold dear, but my old hunting ground no longer feels right for me. I am really enjoying exploring new areas.
Maybe i would feel as if i were going backwards, maybe not. But something about my home town has died inside me.
I am quite excited after exploring other parts of the world, i am now going to thoroughly explore my own country and appreciate it a hell of a lot more than i did before i left.

not in a heartbeat,(buy my old house back)

It was bought with the intention of living with my then partner and a place his sons could come and stay and have space, when that dream ended I found that only myself and my son were rattling around in a big 4 bed. just too much to clean!

Since returning ive bought a 3 bed ex council house on a very very quiet estate. I knew as soon as i walked through the door I would be happy here, its got such a calming atmosphere. I love it.

plus my old neighbours son has turned into a right chav...still not forgiven him for glueing EVERY lock on my old car...grrrrrrr!!!!!
