Wise - formerly Transferwise

Just a quick question regarding the Wise accounts. I am finally persuaded that this is the way forward for my retirement funds in the US.

I am presuming these are reportable on the FBAR forms as financial accounts?

yes, I report the highest balance each year

They do publish a London address to enter on the FBAR.

I have been having a terrible time with Wise in the last few weeks. I could link one bank account that was a joint account, and it has been very successful for me. However, trying to link our credit union account has been impossible despite all the supporting documents I have sent proving it is an account I jointly owned with my spouse. Now, they are saying it's a business account, and I need more documentation. I even tried a wire transfer, but it was denied. It's very frustrating as it's our main checking account.

Is this a problem because it is joint account? or is it because it is a Credit Union?

It's both. They think my credit union member number is my account number despite sending numerous documents to prove otherwise, including a letter from my bank. I even changed my bank account to my full name, so it was the same as my Wise account. No other account has had this issue. I have given up for now, as we are in the throes of moving house, so there are too many other things to worry about.

What a pain in the derrier! Good luck with the move - it has stresses of it's own.
