Since you're speaking for all of us who are off today...

We have had paid holiday since Dec 23rd, and today is paid holiday for us too because New Year's Day was over the weekend. I feel very lucky.

I carried over 10-1/2 vacation days from 2010 and 5 sick/personal days (for which I get paid)
That's what I thought the rule was and in the end we all did have Friday. I think as long it was only one, nobody cares! That's what happened on July 4th the last 2 years anyway.

We only get 6 public holidays so I have to wait for Memorial Day . You did just remind me though that my leave resets on April 1, so I will again have 10 vacation days and 3 personals (3 sick too but I'm never sick so I use them for when the kids are sick instead!)

President's Day wouldn't be too bad. I might take a day off then anyway just to piss off my son when he thinks he gets a day in the house by himself . . .

I was spoiled being a civil servant in the UK, it made me too used to lots of time off.

Had Friday off, so back in the office today - although, the parking lots around here seem less full than a usual Monday. Like others have said, probably people took a personal day as the schools are not back until tomorrow.

Yes you are and of course I am ;-)

Not many companies close for the entire holiday week. I know the pharm industry in NJ did a while back but then stopped that practice. Also schools do have that long holiday as well.

We had Friday off, back today, schools are also back here today. Hubby has today off, he also had Friday off as the studio that he now works with had that day in the calendar when they were bought by the big corp.

It doesn't make sense why he has today. He had the Friday before Christmas, so why would you get a Monday for New Year

Thats crazy long. Do they still get the week in February? I thought the holidays would be the same across the state.

Our office was closed from 12/23 until today. Nice long break, but no more holidays until Memorial day...

No every district sets their own days.
No more holidays till the last two weeks of March, they have occasional days for presidents day.
The they finish for summer in June, back at the end of July. (hopefully our last year, Ds graduates and we'll be moving home to Wales)
